Today’s post brings a preview of an upcoming limited edition release exclusively for the UK! This is Pandora’s second charm released in support of Children in Need, a charity run by the BBC, following last year’s limited edition Pudsey charm.

Just as a refresher, Children in Need is a UK charity run by the BBC (our national television company) in support of disabled children and young people in Britain. It’s a pretty big deal here and they run big televised appeals every November!

Read on to see how Pandora are supporting the charity this time around! :D

Pandora Children in Need Charm 2016 Preview

This year’s charm focuses again on the charity’s mascot, Pudsey the Bear, who wears a colourful bandana over one eye. However, while last year’s charm just featured his head, this time Pandora have gone for a rather cute full-bodied design (which better suits my personal tastes, as it offers more detail!). I think they’ve done a better job of making it look like Pudsey this time around – from what I can see, anyway!

This year’s charm has no coloured CZ on the bandana, with just enamel spots instead – again a design decision that I much prefer!

As you can just about make out, he actually has ‘2016’ written underneath him, which is a nice detail!

From what I understand, this charm is rumoured to be released on the 8th of September (I will update this post if I hear otherwise) and will retail, like last year, for £40.

My Comment

I remembering being so pleasantly surprised by the Pandora and CIN team-up last year, and it’s just as nice to see them continuing to support the charity this year! I prefer this year’s design to last year’s, as I prefer the greater level of detail of full-bodied designs, so I will definitely be picking up this Pudsey charm to go with my one from last year. <3

It’ll be interesting to see whether Pandora continue making LE charms for Children in Need in future years – I don’t really see how many versions of Pudsey they can make, but it would be nice to see the collaboration continue.

Last year this charm was very popular, and I had a lot of requests for advice on how to get one from international collectors – I’m sure the same will be true of this year!

What do you think of this year’s CIN charm? Will you be getting one?

  1. Thanks for the update. I prefer this one to last years, it’s better with him being full bodied.
I’m not sure if I’ll get him, but I will have a look at him in store, to see what he looks like.

    • Yay! :D Last year’s seems to be becoming quite hard to find, which is unusual with limited editions these days.

  2. This is really cute! I like this one better than last years charm. Does Pandora make any other charms for charities?

    • They do other charitable releases from time to time; there’s usually a breast cancer awareness each year. This is one of the only tie-ins with a specific charity I think.

      • I remember the red poppy Murano was released as a charity in the UK but it was released later in other countries as a standard Murano.

        • That’s right – for the Poppy Appeal or Soldier’s Charity, something like that. We seem to have quite a few charitable releases here in the UK!

        • They also did the sparkling hearts which was a tie in with the British Heart Foundation – both my parents now have heart conditions, so pretty sentimental for me.

  3. I have an acquaintance in the U.S who would dearly love this charm. She lost an eye to cancer when she was 1 1/2 yrs old. Do you know if it is possible to purchase them from overseas?

    • Oh, I do hope you manage to find one for her – officially, the answer is that retailers in the UK can’t ship charms abroad, but sometimes there is the odd one or two who are willing to bend the rules. I will post if I find one – and if you are having trouble, you can always send me an email and I can try and find you a way. :)

    • I am in the UK and helped 40 plus ladies last year get Pudsey 2015. Happy to help. I am on FB Pandora Angels and am an outstanding seller on there.

  4. I agree with you. This one is much better from last year’s. I might have to find out how to get one because I live in the US. But it’s so cute!

    • Oh you should get one if you can! The Pudsey charm from last year did become quite hard to get hold of in the end, I think. This one is even cuter!

    • Yay I totally agree! :D I will research any ordering options for international readers when it launches, but in case nothing turns up, I would advise joining some Facebook buy & sell groups now, as that will probably be your best chance of getting one. Pandora’s Angels, Pandora’s Tribe, the usual :)

  5. Last year Pudsey was my first ever charm , so I will definitely be getting him this year !!!
Do you think we’ll have a free bracelet offer in October this year xxx

    • Glad to hear it! I’ll be getting one too <3 I think I heard that there will be a promo, yes, but I don't have any details at this point xx

  6. I love this year’s Pudsey as well! Last year’s is just adorable and this looks to be as well! I’ll be looking for a kind Pandora person in the UK to arrange maybe getting this one!

  7. Love this! I prefer this design to last years, but glad to see Pandora is continuing to support this charity. I have a sister with cancer and will have to find a way to get one as I live in US.

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your sister – and I do hope you manage to find one of these cute charms. :) There are usually a lot of ladies willing to help, at the very least, and I’ll try and find a retailer who might be able to ship them over as well.

  8. OMG I’m so excited to get this charm, this is the most excited I have been for a charm this year. I love my Pudsey charm from last year. And wouldn’t you just know it September the 1st is our wedding anniversary so it’s a perfect present idea for my husband to get me, as apparently I’m hard to buy for (the cheek :) Can’t wait to get it. Thanks as always for the Pandora news x

    • Aw that’s so nice to hear! It’s so fun to see a new charm that gets you properly excited. There are a lot of fun and pretty charms these days, but not necessarily as many truly unique and exciting beads. ^^ Aha my OH says the opposite about me… he always says I’m such a magpie that he can just walk into any shop and pick out five things I’d want to go home with!
You are welcome! Glad you’re excited x

  9. I absolutely adore this bear! Aside from being adorable who wouldn’t want to contribute to childdren in need. Do you ( or anyone else ) know of uk retailers who would be willing to ship to the United States ? Thanks Ellie!

    • Exactly! It’s adorable and for a very worthy cause ^^ I don’t know yet whether there’ll be any way of ordering it officially for international readers but I will keep my eyes peeled, I promise!

    • Me too! I’ll have a little Pudsey party on my bracelet for CIN night haha. I’m so glad they decided to do a fuller version as I’m just not as keen on the ‘floating head’ animal charms.

  10. Much prefer this year’s offering. I didn’t get last year’s because it didn’t really look like Pudsey to me. This is better but I still think it should be yellow ;-).

    • Haha, but can you imagine how hard it would be to style a yellow Pudsey bead? I love enamel but that might be a bit tricky ;)

  11. Ellie,

I love this charm but more so the idea behind it. As much as I would love to have one, it does not ship to my country so I will have to admire from a far. I look forward to your design ideas with this charm. I thought you did an amazing job of styling last years Pudsey, not an easy charm to work with but you did it! Hopefully this years will prove a little easier to work into your designs.

    Again a great cause!

    Cheers!
    Lisa K.

    • Hi Lisa! Perhaps you can find someone to help you out :) that’s one thing that I love about the Pandora community – all the charms flying backwards and forwards across the oceans, haha.
Oh, thank you! That’s nice of you to say – he was a really tough one to style, haha. I’ll have to get brainstorming ahead of time for this one too! :P

      Thanks for commenting! <3

  12. The full bodied Pudsey really is cute! If Pandora comes out with a bead next year, maybe it’ll be a white murano with brightly colored dots – a Pudsey murano!

    • Judy! I absolutely love that idea. I was kind of stumped as to what they could do next, but that would be perfect. I’m already wishing that there was one I could actually buy now ^^

  13. Hi Ellie! Pudsey is absolutely adorable and for such a good cause! Was the Sparkle of Love charm originally a charitable release as well? The Heart Foundation in Great Britain? I was just curious, because I seem to remember that it was released in Great Britain before being released in the USA.

    • Hi Carol! The Sparkle of Love was released at the same time in the US and the UK, but it was sold in aid of the British Heart Foundation here, whereas it was just a regular charm there. :) Pandora UK do quite a lot of charitable tie-ins!

  14. Nothing to do with pudsey but I popped into my local Pandora today and they already have the new rose heart clasp bracelet. They’re selling it as a bundle for £125.00. I can’t find any mention of it online ? Will the bracelet still be sold in the U.K. On its own ? I tried it on and it’s absolutely stunning. I should of taken a photo. Xx

    • Oh that’s interesting! As far as I’m aware the rose heart clasp bracelet shouldn’t be out until the 1st of September – if it’s going to be part of a bundle, then it probably won’t be sold on its own for a while… probably not until the new year at least. but I haven’t heard anything official ! xx

  15. Has this years Pudsey charm officially come out with the Autumn collection? I cannot find it on the website anywhere, only last years design :(
